The waiting period after order has been put in for food.
All facilities were within reach, no need to travel for entertainment
The breakfast was not good, they need to improve on variety since it is a buffet.
About 30km before Alpine Heath the road was under construction. Lots of potholes and stones.
Tranquility, peace, serenity and the mountains keep bringing me back to the berg. Alpine Heath has all the required facilities for a fun family holiday. Horseriding and hiking always on the agenda of things to do. The All out adventure place , 5 mins away, was definitely a plus factor. Awesum paintball fun was had by all.
Gettn there tired and hungry after the long trip, to find that the chalets were not prepared for our arrival which was exactly at 2pm. Beds not done, untidy appearance of detergents and maids still in the units. Furthermore misunderstanding of the breakfast being part of the price for all members. In terms of the cpa act, Booked.net need to be clear and concise in their wording of their "special". A plus to ah. Was that they did not charge our family for the 1st breakfast, when they saw our confusion.
We loved the friendly atmosphere of staff, the location of the hotel, the activities throughout the day and the option of a dining room / restaurant and self catering. It was lovely to interact with guests but also enjoyable to break away and enjoy the privacy of our room with friends and family. The highlight of the stay was the horse riding outride with Johan who went out of his way to chat about the area and teach us how to ride a horse in a comfortable and relaxed environment.
The lack of information on arrival. Nothing about of booking and its terms ane conditions was explained to us at check in, as we booked through Booked.net. When I booked I was quoted my rate to include breakfast, but after our first breakfast were we only then notified that we only qualified for 2 free breakfasts and then presented with a bill for r600 for the meal. I found this rather enmbarssing in front of my guests, and after consultation with the manager the bill was reduced. The following morning was a similar incident, in that when we were advised the day before of the 2 free breakfasts and that the balance of guests would pay, we were satisfied that we would eat off the ala carte menu, but on arrival at the restaurant we were advised that the ala carte menu was non existant for that day. Quite odd!
Great outdoor environment. Very friendly staff at reception (Genevieve) Good planned activities for kids and family. Safe walking trails. Price (through Booked.net) reasonable. Problems/queries attended to promptly. Good selection of restaurant/coffee shops etc. Polite waiters/waitrons and other programme co-ordinators - lots of fun with them especially around the poolside and grounds. Overall a great place to relax
Cleanliness of chalet leaves much to be desired. A little more time and effort must be put in by the cleaning staff to ensure a clean unit - this applies to from the kitchen to bedrooms and baths.
The location in the berg, the relaxed family friendly atmosphere, the comfortable accommodation, friendly staff.
Didn't see much, weren't there long enough
Was a bit expensive for our purpose, but that is not due to any fault on your side. We had to speak at a conference, so we travelled from Pretoria to Alpine Heath, got there early evening, slept, had breakfast, spoke at the conference and headed back home. We were there for about 15 hours.
The serenity and tranquility was amazing. Beautiful setting, luxurious apartments and friendly service.
The staff are exceptional in every way but especially in the way that they ensure that your stay is a happy and comfortable one. They are always asking what they can do to improve your time at the resort. I liked the quick response of staff when two small children slipped at the toddlers pool. I had no contact whatsoever with any management there and although managers were around, they did not ever speak to us, however the staff on the ground were fantastic. The facilities were really good, catering for all age groups. Easy walks and clear paths, lots of fun activities around the pool and delicious food. I am really missing the breakfast buffets. The scenery is so beautiful and the space between the chalets allows one to have a restful, quiet break without disturbance from other families or groups. All in all, our family cannot wait to return!
The deli did not seem to function while we were there. It would have been great to be able to buy freshly baked bread and cold meats, pates and pastries as was advertised but not available. Also the shop was a little short on supplies - we shopped for curios, shoes and jewellery at the Cavern Shop which was well stocked. The teenagers were looking for trinkets to spend their money on but these were in short supply at Alpine Heath.
The peace, serenity and tanquility was par excellance. The staff were helpful , warm and efficient. The facilities were outstanding.
bookiing .com stated that the rate included room and breakfast, however , we were denied breakfast, which was quite dissapointing, as well as embarassing. On our return we followed up and it was discovered that the error lay with Alpine heath's reception staff. I was promised a voucher refunding me the breakfast via e- mail. still awaiting the voucher.
Only the coffee shop was operational and the Restaurant was closed for the whole duration of our stay which was very dissappointing as the coffee shop menu was very limited
We had a relaxing five days in the Drakensberg mountains with our two teenage daughters, hiking, lounging by the pool and exploring the local countryside. We all rated the stay and accommodation as wonderful.
Alpine Heath is a best holiday destination for families with kids. We stayed at the resort to celebrate the New Year. We took our four kids aged 3, 4, 5 and 10 to the resort and they had a great time. There is a lot to do for the kids. There was a daily programme of what is happening for a day from 07h00 to 21h00. I loved the Karaoke nights for the adults. My little ones enjoyed the trampoline and the horse rides. My 10 yr old loved the movie theatre. I hardly saw him he was always away with some friends he met at the resort. He even cried when we left the resort. We will definitely go there again in the future.
the location, makes you appreciate nature, the location is best, the chalets are beautiful, clean andfriendly staff
i loved it
